Flying 101 year old Bernard Gardiner

What an incredible way to kick off the 2023 season with our first passenger in his birthday week – Bernard Gardiner, who just turned 101!  Hurricane and Typhoon veteran, Bernard flew 71 combat operations in the Typhoon. The flight took place from Imperial War Museum Duxford  and was in support of the Hawker Typhoon RB396  fundraiser. More information can be found about the project and how to support it here: www.hawkertyphoon.com

For all the team this was a huge privilege to get Bernard up above the clouds in the Hurricane once again.

FIND HURRICANE HERITAGE

Hurricane Heritage runs flight operations from the beautiful and historic White Waltham Airfield.

The airfield has a long and illustrious history, dating back to 1935 when the de Havilland family acquired the land and formed the de Havilland School of Flying. Home to the Air Transport Auxiliary during the war, it's now a friendly and active aerodrome with great facilities.
